Country Park

Marsh Farm overlooks the River Crouch and is surrounded by its creeks on three sides. The creeks of Woodham are the furthest inland stretches of the sea in Essex, with the exception of Battlesbridge, a few miles to the south-west.

The Country Park is a good example of Essex grazing marshes, carrying rare plants such as sea barley and grass vetchling.

Sheep can be seen grazing on the sea walls and dykes during the summer months, which helps create a unique habitat for rare coastal plants.

The Country Park is free to visit and is open all year round. Car parking is free and is open from 8am till dusk. More information including a map can be found at Marsh Farms Visitor Centre.

Marsh Farm tearoom is the perfect place to have a break and get some wholesome food before rambling on through the Country Park. Toilets are also located near the tearoom.

Dogs are welcome in the Country Park, however some areas do require the dogs to be on leads.

Bird Watching

The Country Park is recognised as internationally important site for over-wintering brent geese. Every winter the marshes are visited by hundreds of wildfowl and waders. Over 150 species of bird have been seen around the Country Park, making Marsh Farm the perfect spot for bird watching all year round.

River Walks

There are a number of circular walks available. Discover the wildlife as you take in the beautiful views of the Country Park and River Crouch. Cycling is also possible on the riverside walkways, although please note that pedestrians have the right of way.

Country Park Special Events

An event leaflet is available from libraries, Essex Tourist Information Centre and Country Parks, which has details of the events run by rangers in the nine Essex County Council Parks
